Research Quarter planned for Cambourne Business Park
29 Oct 2002
The Developers of Cambourne Business Park have hosted a dinner the Midsummer House Restaurant, Cambridge, to celebrate the launch of The Research Quarter at Cambourne Business Park. Attending the dinner were key business leaders involved in running high tech and biotech businesses, consultants advising on laboratory property, potential building occupiers and investors.
Guests were given an introduction to the plans for the development of up to 320,000 sq ft of high quality office and laboratory accommodation, and welcomed the news that construction of the first building was due to commence in Spring of 2003.
“Over the past few years we have been approached by a number of emerging research companies with a view to acquiring space at Cambourne and to date we have been unable to accommodate them” explained Dan Van Gelder of Development Securities, “this is now not the case. Having undertaken a detailed analysis of the market, building design and occupational usage, we have designed an exciting new concept and we hope to commence construction of our first building on a speculative basis very early next year.
Cambourne Business Park already has over 250,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation and construction is soon to start on a 60,000 sq ft headquarters building for South Cambridgeshire District Council.
